Sealed Pot Savings Challenge

Ok so I have decided that I will be taking up this challenge.....

i do however need to find a suitable tub first though I think. I'm surveying the living room at present for something apt but I think I may need to venture further afield like the kitchen to find something I can seal shut - something that I cant see through and wont be tempted to pinch from during the year.

I have decided that I will try and put in £2 a week - however its made, whether through Ebay, finding it in the street, from a scratch card etc......I will be adding £2 a week. Plus I think whatever I have left in my bank account at the end of the month - on my pay day which is every four weeks, I will be checking my bank, seeing how much that is and adding it to the pot, so if I wake up on pay day and check and there was £1.49 then I will make sure to put that money into my sealed box/jar/tub/tin.

This will be saving in advance I think for Christmas..... I figure if I can manage £2 a week, then a basic end of year amount will be £104, and at the end of the month I usually make it with about £1.50 left in my bank so that will be an extra £1.50 x 12 = £18 but still that's not the point................its something - and a pot with possibly £122 is better than nothing!

I will pop back later and post a picture of my new sealed pot and will be starting it as of January 1st, but preperation never hurt did it!

Also this year I have joined the Coops credit union

So before my wages are even in my bank, they are deducting £20 a month to go into savings with the credit union. I'm hoping to use some of this to take Ben and Holly to Legoland in May (by then I'll have saved £120 with them) but I'm hoping to find a deal etc with them so we will be able to go with a more money saving deal......... like the papers 2 for 1 deals they have.

So my savings are as followed within my credit union account

December 2012 ~ £20.00

Fingers crossed these will be good for us and eventually provide us with some spare money to either save and squirrel away or maybe go on a little camping family holiday.
